Hi I’m Marika - A designer and illustrator based in Norway.

My memory isn’t the best, but I know I was always fascinated by colours. As a child, visiting my local art supply store in India with my mum and grandmum (being artists themselves), I would almost drool at all the different colours and mediums on display. I also remember taking great joy in owning a 64-piece watercolour pencil set from Faber-Castell, and taking it to school with me every day, sitting with my friends and colouring in homework assignments when the opportunity arose. Those same coloured pencils were used to meticulously recreate the characters from my adventures playing World of Warcraft, and eventually to characters of my own creation.

With my head constantly in fantasy land, it was almost inevitable that I would end up with a bachelor's degree in Game Art and Design from Image College of Art and Technology - Chennai, and later, after discovering what a Concept Artist is, I undertook the brutal design course at FZD School of Design- Singapore.

Today, I am six years into my career as a concept artist, having worked on animated projects like Hvitebjørn, Ruffen the Sea Monster that couldn’t swim and The Legend of Evergreen Hills where I specialised in environment design as well as VFX design.

Privately, I enjoy traditional painting, and I have recently started working with acrylics, where I’m exploring creating colourful art based on magical everyday moments that inspire me throughout my days on the Trondheim fjord with my husband.
